In response to Food Banks Canada’s inaugural report grading Ontario with a D- on poverty elimination, Ontario Greens leader Mike Schreiner criticized Premier Doug Ford’s government for its poor track record. Schreiner highlighted the negative impacts of policies such as cancelling the basic income pilot and freezing the minimum wage, which have exacerbated the struggles of low-income workers and essential professionals. He called for immediate and bold solutions to combat poverty, emphasizing the financial burden of $33 billion annually that neglecting this issue imposes on the province.
